well i got this email today and this is what it says

Notice: Unauthorized circumvention devices for the
PlayStation(R)3 system have been recently released by
hackers for the PlayStation(R)3 system. These devices
permit the use of unauthorized or pirated software.
Use of such devices or software violates the terms
of your "System Software License Agreement for the
PlayStation(R)3 System" and the "Terms of Services
and User Agreement" for the PlayStation(R)Network/
Qriocity(TM) and its Community Code of Conduct provisions.
In addition, copying or playing pirated software is
a violation of International Copyright Laws.
A circumvention device and/or unauthorized or pirated
software currently resides on your PlayStation(R)3 system.
Immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices
and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from your
PlayStation(R)3 system. Failure to do so will result in
termination of your access to the PlayStation(R)Network
and access to Qriocity(TM) services through your
PlayStation(R)3 system.

that email is such bs. first off, the so-called "devices" i have yet to see any and where they are being "circumvented" from. And secondly, loading "backups" on the ps3 is still a work in progress and u need the disk in to play most backed up games. so its not piracy yet.

all i have on my ps3 is things that sony has denied me- linux, emulators, backup managers, homebrew games, oh yea and did i mention linux? you know what i say to that email? i say screw u sony (i would say somthing much more harsh than that but...) i can run what i want on my ps3.

i purchased my ps3 didn't i? Is the console not mine? if not then what did i spent $300 on? a lease from sony?

no. i didnt. i bought the console. that email just plsses me off every time i read it. i just wanted to let u all know.

Just fucking create an online rebellion and complain. make sony loose fans so they can be fucked! Although they are my supporters when i need to Sue you... i'd have to agree they are crossing the line... i think we should get them back by hacking it more, so i see my teacher was right. that the WTO never changes...

What did your teacher say? What is the WTO?

Sony is just going to go through all this for nothing. They are stirring up trouble. The more they stir, the more the hackers will stir as well

Backing up your games is not even close to piracy. Thats like saying backing up your ROMS for emulators is piracy. Sony is so BS. First off I did not sign into PSN with my hacked console. (That tells me that they are using illegal methods of checking you consoles.) I updated because I didn't wont to lose my paid for content. Of coarse updating took away my custom font. After all that I played GTA IV online for some noob kicking. The only game I do good on online.

Not only that Mexi, but they are losing thousands of customers.

In my opinion, Sony is going to lose. The more they try to bust people and make their point, the more the hackers rebel. Eventually Sonys gonna get so far in that it will be pointless, and they will have spent thousands of dollars doing little to nothing. That is why Microsoft doesn't even mess with hackers. Don't want to spend thousands of dollars for nothing.

Sony should have watched the other gaming companies and see how they dealt with Piracy and hackers.(Well I think Nintendo freaks out as well)

The only thing that Nintendo really does about hacking is releasing updates that will delete the hacks off.

I heard Nintendo was taking action towards DS pirates. And I heard they threw a fit about Wii being hacked as well.

they need to realize that everything is vulnerable, even if you make a really safe program or device or anything, there will always be a weak spot.

Ds was never hacked. it loaded a flash cart, But never had an actual "Hack", except maybe mod chips.
What about Sega genesis(Stay Quiet reaper)... They were never hacked(Mark me if Im wrong).
-Gba never hacked
-Gameboy color
-N64
-Gamecube

All not hacked.

actually to contradict some of those consoles were in fact hacked. for starters the ds, sum guy did make a cfw for it, but it doesnt really have too much use. making it for homebrew devs for the most part. and the gamecube was also hacked. there were quite a few modchips for it that allowed for a cfw to be run (qoob & xenogc are 2 modchips i can name off the top of my head) as well as "backups" and homebrew.

and the gba i belive there was a linux for that(very alpha stages though if i recall). but the others really have no point in being hacked. they have zero copy protection meaning i could make a genesis game and just throw it on a flash cart and it'll run fine with no exploits or keys. thats the beauty of old consoles Wink

EDIT

oh and just because they never were hacked doesn't mean they couldn't be Wink

I don't see it as a direct Hack unless you can do it with your household utilities. If you have to go and buy something external like a Flash cart, or a mod chip, Then I don't see it as a hack, but an addon.

The PSP is hacked, the Wii is hacked, the PS3 is hacked, and that is all the consoles which I really consider hacked.

The other systems, you had to buy external crap for em which I hated... If Im gonna hack something, I want to be able to do it on the spot, not have to wait a week for parts to come in.

when u think of it, all the consoles hacked have a storage method. cartridge based consoles like the genesis didn't have anything except the cartridge as far as storage(which cant be re-written to, thus thats where flash carts come in to play) so there wasn't much to hack. the newer consoles though, have a means of storing data onboard therefor allowing hacks

In other words a cfw is a hack, and everything else are just mods. But, mods allow things that are like hacks like homebrew.

Stuff that I can consider hacks are mostly code written stuff. If there is programing involved for the most part then I consider that a hack to.
