If anyone needs it you can get it for free from autodesk if you're a student. It comes with a 3 year license and it is 100% legal and brand new! The only catch is you can't sell anything you produce in the program.. Which isn't a big deal for teams like us.

Also, I'm willing to make some small video tutorials on how to model some certain things in Max, just comment on something you would like a tutorial on and I'll do my best to make some videos this weekend. Smile

here is the link where you can get maya, 3ds max and other various autodesk programs. (students only) Have fun!

I don't think that is possible. I think you have to download blender and the exporter to export mdl

ahh crap, I didn't see people were posting in this, sorry guys Razz

anyways, there is a nifty little program called 'Quick 3D' http://www.quick3d.org/ that'll do that for you. The shareware version is fine. It might export the animations, I'm not too sure about that, but if you only have ONE unwrap for the whole model, It will export that too. Otherwise everything will be jumbled.

(you may have to invert your faces before exporting to 3ds, I don't know why)

I might learn the basics of blender if you give it a go, but I prefer the format of 3ds max (just my opinion)
