Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People’s Army, enjoyed a performance given by the art squad of the Command of KPA Unit 6556.

Among the audience were senior officials of Party and armed forces organs including Kim Jong Un, Ri Yong Ho, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Jong Gak, Kim Yang Gon, U Tong Chuk and Ri Myong Su.

The members of the art squad staged colourful numbers of various genres, including narrative poem and chorus “Nostalgia” and “May Prosper, the Era of the Workers’ Party”, female solo and pangchang “Glory to Our Great Party” and male solo “The Country I Defend.”

Expressing great satisfaction over the fact that they gave a splendid performance, Kim Jong Il highly praised them for their successful performance and extended thanks to them.
The performance given by the art squad today proved that the combination of arms and music represents the unity of idea and emotion, revolution and human being and struggle and life and that the Songun cause of the DPRK has, therefore, become a great and beautiful cause of the people, he said.

He expressed his expectation and belief that the members of the art squad of the unit would vigorously conduct revolutionary and militant performing activities and thus make tangible contributions to encouraging the servicepersons to distinguish themselves in the struggle to defend the socialist country.
