Over 100 000 people from all walks of life took part in the rally.
The rostrum was taken by senior officials of the Party and state Choe Yong Rim, Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, Choe Ryong Hae, Kim Rak Hui, Thae Jong Su, Mun Kyong Dok, Ri Mu Yong and Han Kwang Bo, officials of working people’s organizations, ministries and national agencies, those from Party and power organs in the city, industrial establishments and farms, heroes and persons of distinguished service.
Mun Kyong Dok, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee and chief secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the WPK, made a report.
He said that last year witnessed great innovations and big strides in the building of a thriving country and the 100-year history of the Juche era was brought to a successful close thanks to the energetic guidance of leader Kim Jong Il.
Today when they enter the new road of advance of the Juche revolution all the officials, Party members and working people in the capital city would dynamically step up the revolutionary march of the New Year under the guidance of supreme leader Kim Jong Un, upholding the slogan “Glorify this year 2012 as a year of proud victory, a year when an era of prosperity is unfolding, true to the instructions of the great General Kim Jong Il!”, the reporter stressed.
Representatives of working class, agricultural workers, youths and students and intellectuals made speeches.
They made pledges to thoroughly implement the decision of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and the tasks set forth in the joint slogans of the WPK Central Committee and the WPK Central Military Commission and the joint editorial of this year by flaring up more fiercely the flames of Hamnam.
All the participants were full of revolutionary zeal to glorify this year as a year of victory to be specially recorded in the brilliant history of Kim Il Sung’s nation and Kim Jong Il’s Korea, a year of prosperity, closely united around supreme leader Kim Jong Un.
A resolution was adopted at the rally.
After the rally the participants marched past the rostrum.
