As stated in the post, it's sending the disable track-pad signal. I already know what's wrong with the disable track-pad it's self. (That's why it's not the main problem.) There just isn't a permanent fix for that yet.
Other then that, I know that it works both as the Backlit keyboard off/low/high and the disable track-pad simultaneously. (Noting that the disable track-pad function is glitched not being related to the problem at hand.)
Now the issue with the disable track-pad being the fact that it's out of sync with the built in function (default drivers ie Desktop functions) and synaptics function making it behave in this odd manor. (Noting that Synaptics also came pre-installed and removing thus driver renders the Track-pad useless and doesn't resolve the issue at hand.) Putting in some commands make it not function at all but is not a real fix (F6 key.) Switching to the virtual consoles from Gnome also has the same function as the commands I used. (Fixes the right-click and keyboard input but the disable track-pad button still refuses to work)
The Function key is F6. I also tried switching the Function key behavior to Function from Media (So I'd need to hit Fn+F6 instead of just F6)....Still didn't help. I was hoping that the Turn on Backlight would stay as F6 while disable track-pad would switch to Fn+F6...I was wrong...
The company my hardware came from (Dell) has no information about Linux for this Laptop.
Other then that, Linux works quite well out of the box with this Laptop. (Laptop being a Dell Studio 1749) Wifi and GPU worked out of the box. (Not on debian D: but lets not get into that)
I have Linux Mint 14 on it right now. At the time it was Ubuntu but it's the same exact problem and that's why I didn't switch forums. (I can just install Ubuntu along side Linux Mint if I have to and then remove Ubuntu/extend HDD space later)
This is not necessarily a Driver issue, I would also like to point out that I bought this back-lit keyboard from amazon because at the time it was cheaper than buying a non-back-lit keyboard. (The keyboard that was on the computer was not in a functioning state and had to be replaced.)
The keyboard works perfectly fine in Windows.
'try to port it over to linux.' I really wish I could port drivers to Linux but I wouldn't know where to begin.
